FIRST EVER CRICKET TIMED OUT | RULES OR GAME SPIRIT 2023
A rare thing happened in the 145 years of cricket game. The word cup 2023 being hosted in India. As part of word cup 38 match between Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh. Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bowl. Sri Lanka started scoring 6 per over but in the middle phase Sri Lanka lost continuously.
At 135/4 Sri Lanka in 24.2 overs A. Mathews came to bat at number 6th position and got out with out facing a single ball in the form of TIME OUT . Yes you heard right as per the rules and regulation of international cricket council (ICC) in the word cup matches if a player got out and next batsman should came to bat with in 2 MINUTES of time if batsman fail to reach the batting crease its considered to be OUT.
Similar case happened with Sri Lankan senior player A. Mathews after the dismissal of S. SAMARAWICKRAMA , A. Mathews came to crease with in 1 MINUTE 55 SECONDS but due to helmet strip failure he called for helmet replacement with out informing the umpire it took more than two minutes to replace the helmet and Bangladesh player appealed for OUT, the umpires asked twice to Bangladesh captain to make decision but S.AL. Hasan said rules are rules and he said give out to Mathews in the form time out. it was the first time out in the history of cricket.
The Sri Lankan Cricket Team was disappointed with this decision and this effect been seen in the entire match where Sri Lankan players are going argument with Bangladesh players. After the match completion Sri Lankan players Refuge to shake hand with Bangladesh players and this thing heated up the battle for upcoming series.
